Governor’s New COVID-19 Rules for Manufacturers

Yesterday Governor Pritzker announced new COVID-19 rules. What does this mean for Dudek & Bock employees?

  1. Employees are required to wear masks at all times in the building. The only exceptions are for eating, drinking and washing your face. Please put on your mask before leaving your car, and leave the mask on until you reach your car at the end of your shift. Exemptions only allowed for safety reasons.
  2. The COVID-19 bonus has to be terminated, as ordered by the Governor, with the pay period that begins on November 23.
  3. Sanitize workstations and frequently touched surfaces at the beginning of your shift.
  4. Cooperate if you are required to have a temperature check.
  5. Limit in-home gatherings to household members. Limit funerals to 10 family members of the decedent.

Although we have had several employees infected with COVID-19, we have seen no evidence that any case was caused by infection from a co-worker. We appreciate your continued efforts to do everything you can to keep your co-workers safe. Please continue that care when you leave work.

See Tier 3 Resurgence Mitigations for the full text of the order.

In addition, following current CDC guidelines (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/duration-isolation.html), employees who contract COVID-19 can return to work after a 14-day quarantine (measured from the date of a COVID test that produces a positive test result).

Continue to follow the city of Chicago’s restrictions and the guidelines for frequent hand-washing, staying at least six feet apart from others, and wearing masks correctly. Masks must cover your nose, mouth, and chin. If you have problems keeping the mask on your nose, try a different style of mask. Disposable masks should be worn only one day. Reusable cloth masks should be washed daily.

Positive COVID-19 tests on Reported on 11/16

Today we learned that three additional Dudek & Bock employees have tested positive for COVID-19. These employees work in different departments (Maintenance, Automatic, 4-Slide) and have no interaction with one another. Two are on 1st shift and one is on 2nd shift. None of them believes that they contracted the virus at work. We have seen no spread within the plant. However, the situation is quickly worsening statewide. Illinois officials today reported 11,632 new cases and 37 deaths.

If you think you have been exposed to the virus, or if you have symptoms, stay home and get tested. Rumors spread quickly. Please do not speculate on who may have the virus. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your supervisor or Nancy Hopkins by phone or at nhopkins@dudek-bock.com

Please continue to wear masks at work at all times.

Mayor Lightfoot issued a new COVID-19 advisory on Thursday. Among the provisions:

All residents of the City of Chicago are advised to stay at home in response to the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the city. Residents are advised to only leave home to go to work or school, or for essential needs such as seeking medical care, going to the grocery store or pharmacy, picking up food, or receiving deliveries.

Additionally, residents are strongly advised to:

– Not have guests in their homes unless they are essential workers (home healthcare providers or childcare workers)
– Cancel traditional Thanksgiving celebrations

The full order can be read here: https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid-19/home.html

Governor Pritzker said today: “If things don’t take a turn in the coming days, we will quickly reach the point when some form of a mandatory stay-at-home order is all that will be left.” This follows 15,315 new COVID-19 cases reported on Friday, breaking the record for daily cases for the fourth consecutive day.

The City of Chicago has also extended its travel ban to every state surrounding Illinois. There are now 2 levels of states banned. The City is requesting that residents who travel out-of-state quarantine for 14 days.
